The curly lipstick plant has twisted, curling dark green leaves on cascading stems, with bright red, tube-shaped flowers. Even when it isn't blooming, the curly foliage looks great in a hanging pot. It's safe around cats and dogs.

How to care for it
- Light: bright, indirect light. It won't flower well in low light.
- Water: water when the top inch of soil is dry. Keep it lightly moist, never soggy.
- Humidity: average to high. Higher humidity helps it bloom.
- Pruning: trim stems after flowering to keep it full.

Is it safe for cats and dogs?
Yes. The ASPCA lists the lipstick plant as non-toxic to cats and dogs. A pet that eats a lot of any plant may get a mild upset stomach, but it won't be poisoned.
Why isn't it flowering?
Usually not enough light. Move it to a brighter spot with indirect light. Blooms are heaviest in spring and summer.

I got two curly lipstick plants from Root & Reach Botanicals to put in our guest bathroom. They did a great job packing them with care. Both plants arrived in perfect condition in their nursery pots.
