How to care for it
- Light: medium to bright, indirect light keeps the white speckling strong. Direct sun scorches the leaves.
- Water: water when the top inch of soil is dry. Keep it lightly moist, never soggy.
- Temperature: it prefers cooler rooms, around 50 to 70°F, and dislikes hot, dry spots near heaters.

Is it safe for cats and dogs?
Yes. The ASPCA lists Japanese aralia (Fatsia japonica) as non-toxic to cats and dogs. A pet that eats a lot of any plant may get a mild upset stomach, but it won't be poisoned.
Why are new leaves less speckled?
Variegation needs light. If new leaves come in greener, move it to a brighter spot, out of direct sun.
