Lemon button fern is a compact fern with small, round, bright green leaflets on upright fronds, and a light lemony scent when you brush against it. It stays small enough for shelves, desks and terrariums, and it's safe around cats and dogs.

How to care for it
- Light: medium to bright, indirect light. Direct sun scorches the fronds.
- Water: keep the soil evenly moist, never soggy. Don't let it dry out completely.
- Humidity: higher humidity keeps the fronds lush. Bathrooms and kitchens are ideal.
- Temperature: 60 to 80°F, away from heat vents and drafts.

Is it safe for cats and dogs?
Yes. The ASPCA lists its close relatives, the Boston fern and sword fern, as non-toxic to cats and dogs. A pet that eats a lot of any plant may get a mild upset stomach, but it won't be poisoned.
Why are the fronds turning brown and crispy?
Usually the soil dried out or the air is too dry. Keep the soil evenly moist and raise the humidity. Trim off damaged fronds and new ones will grow in.
