Peperomia Metallica has small, glossy leaves with a dark metallic sheen and a silver stripe down the center, on upright red stems. It's a compact, eye-catching plant for a desk or windowsill, and it's safe around cats and dogs.

How to care for it
- Light: bright to medium, indirect light. Avoid harsh afternoon sun.
- Water: let the top inch or two of soil dry out, then water thoroughly. The thick leaves store water, so it forgives a missed watering.
- Soil: a light, well-draining mix in a pot with a drainage hole.
- Humidity: normal home humidity is fine.
- Temperature: 65 to 80°F, away from cold drafts.

Is it safe for cats and dogs?
Yes. The ASPCA lists the common houseplant peperomias as non-toxic to cats and dogs, and no peperomia appears on its toxic list. A pet that eats a lot of any plant may get a mild upset stomach, but it won't be poisoned.
Why are the leaves drooping or turning yellow?
Almost always too much water. Peperomia leaves store water, so let the soil dry out more between waterings and make sure the pot drains.
Can it grow in low light?
It tolerates medium light, but it stays more compact and shiny in bright, indirect light.
